Maurizio Guerandi

Maurizio Guerandi was born in 1959 in the province of Brescia, Lombardy, Italy. As a child he started to record music and songs overdubbing material on rough tape recorders. He then began to study acoustic guitar by himself, writing many songs in different languages, including invented ones. He attended the Montreux Jazz Music School, and then entered professional classes of music writing at the Conservatoire of Lausanne, Switzerland. Next he travelled to India where he studies tabla, carnatic percussion, and sitar. He wrote many pieces for orchestras, including saxophone, among which some are played regularly throughout the word.

This performance of In the Tree of Hope is a world premier composed by Maurizio Guerandi for the Cherokee Symphony and Laurent Estoppey in honor of Maestro Lee Thorson's retirement.
