Kieran Cullen,
Flute

Kieran Cullen, age 16, has been playing flute since fifth grade. As a middle school student, he tried out for several honor bands and made first chair in every one, including the All-Iowa eight grade honor band. He tried for the Iowa All-State High School Music Festival as a freshman and sophomore, and was selected as second alternate his first year and third chair in the flute section in his sophomore year.
He is currently studying under instructor Barbara Wells.
In addition to playing the flute in the Storm Lake High School band, Kieran plays violin in the school's orchestra and bari sax in the jazz band. He has received many outstanding soloist awards in both middle school and high school. He also plays the flute in his church.
Kieran's other interests include running, swimming, bike riding, and hanging out with his twin brother Tom. Kieran wants to play in college and beyond.

Christine Nguyen

Christine Nguyen,
piano

Christine Nguyen has only been formally studying piano for about six years, but she had been familiar with it long before that because her family really encourages music. In 2003, she won first place for talent in the Miss Pre-teen Nebraska with a piece that she performed on the piano. In 2005, ChristineI won the title of KVNO Classical Kid for October. She was a finalist in the OMTA Young Artists' Competition in 2006 and 2007. In 2007, Christine placed first in the Junior Virtuoso division in the Nebraska Summer Music Olympics at UNO. She also performed in the Spire Celebration of Keyboard Arts for two years. In school, Christine has participated in band and she have an avid love for show choir. She imagines music, especially piano, will be a big part of her life as she enters college and beyond.

Scott Arens,
piano

Scott Arens, son of Thomas and Terri Arens, is originally from Yankton, South Dakota. He is currently a junior piano performance major studying under Dr. Susan Keith Gray at the University of South Dakota. While at USD, Scott has had the opportunity to work in master-class settings with internationally renowned pianists Emanuele Arciuli, Anastasia Dedik, Gloria Chuang, and Andrew von Oeyen. Last summer, he was also invited to serve as a staff accompanist at the International Performing Arts Institute for Opera and Musical Theatre held in Kiefersfelden, Germany. Scott thoroughly enjoys working as a collaborative pianist and has worked as musical director/rehearsal accompanist in numerous musical theatre productions, including Chicago, Beauty and the Beast, Pippin, West Side Story, Seussical the Musical, Fiddler on the Roof, The Rocky Horror Show, and Singin' in the Rain.
