Featured Soloist

Gabrielle Maren

soloist at the Fall Concert
Sunday, November 1, 2009

Gabrielle's singing career began at age five in the small town of Early, Iowa. From the very start, she amazed audiences with her charismatic, sweet, soulful sounds. Even then, Gabrielle was a natural performer; the stage was her favorite place to be.

By the age of 17, Gabrielle ventured out of her small town and spent one year touring the world with the internationally renowned performing group "Up With People." She was the lead vocalist in her cast, and it is there she learned how to take every emotion a song has to offer and communicate those emotions with her listeners.

After touring with "Up With People", Gabrielle attended Drake University for 2 years where she studied Vocal Performance under Jonathan Retzlaff (currently Professor of Voice, Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt).

Gabrielle moved to Nashville, TN in 1996 to pursue commercial music at Belmont University and graduated there with a Degree in Design Communications. Since her arrival in Nashville, Gabrielle has spent time perfecting her skills in writing and performing. To date, Gabrielle has performed throughout the Nashville circuit, recorded and performed with various artists and completed 3 CD's.

Gabrielle's latest CD "Between a Tear and a Smile" can be found on iTunes.

Gabrielle currently resides in Rock Rapids, IA where she has her own graphic design business. Gabrielle is a member of IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) in Nashville, TN and travels back to Nashville frequently to perform and write with musicians there.

While in Iowa, Gabrielle has met some wonderful musicians. She was introduced to Lee Thorson and members of the Cherokee Symphony while performing in Camelot. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to perform under the direction of Lee Thorson again along with the Cherokee Symphony.
